Local Cub Scout Pack to Benefit from Evening of Cycling
The January 16th Twilight Cycling, presented by Rabobank, will benefit Cub Scout Pack 13 of Salinas. Scouts (boys and girls) as well as area bicyclists who are invited to experience the thrill of the 11-turn, 2.238-mile world famous race track that is normally reserved for motorcycles and race cars.
Activities will start at 4 p.m. when the race track and paddock are open to all Scouts for obstacle course drills and short races for one hour. From 5-7 p.m. it is open track for all participants (Scouts, bike clubs and individuals).
Mazda Raceway’s always family friendly Twilight Cycling, presented by Rabobank evenings are open to all levels of cyclists and cost only $10 per rider. For this special evening however, it is only $5 for each Scout in uniform. Proceeds benefit Cub Scout Pack 13. Scouts can earn achievements, including their bicycling belt loop or pin, for their participation. Helmets are required and Monterey’s Light & Motion will be on hand to loan out their LED bike lights. Hot chocolate and coffee will be served.
“We’d love to have the Monterey Peninsula come out to support the local Cub Scouts,” says Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “It is such a rewarding and important program for these boys, building their character and encouraging physical fitness.”

The 2013 Twilight Cycling, presented by Rabobank, schedule is: January 16; February 13; March 13; April 10; May 8; June 12; July 10; August 13; September 5; October 16; November 13 and December 11. Dates are subject to change based on inclement weather.
