What: Many of the world’s greatest motorcycle road racers will descend upon Mazda Raceway for the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship GEICO U.S. Round featuring MotoAmerica. The international and national two-wheel extravaganza is a spectacular demonstration of rider and machine working as one, with championship implications both in the United States and on the world scene. More than a couple of this season’s races came down to moves made at the final turn on the last lap so there’s every reason to believe they’ll finish that way again in 2017.

61,052 Fans Watch Teammates Beaubier and Hayes share MotoAmerica Superbike wins

A spectacular three-day crowd of 61,052 filled the hills and grandstands of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to witness some of the closest and most exciting motorcycle racing ever on the 11-turn 2.238-mile road course during the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round featuring the MotoAmerica Honda Superbike Showdown of California.

Kawasaki Racing Team’s Tom Sykes took victory in WorldSBK Race 2, heading the Ducati duo of Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies over the line in a race that would have been impossible to script.

Elias takes Superpole in MotoAmerica Superbike

Current Superbike World Championship point leader and reigning champion Jonathan Rea swapped the lead back and forth with Kawasaki Racing Team teammate and Superpole 1 winner Tom Sykes before taking over for good with five laps remaining for his first WorldSBK victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Rea beat his teammate to the finish line by 0.819-of-a-second. The victory came before thousands of enthusiastic fans who filled the paddock, hillsides and grandstands under sun-drenched California skies.
